Despite the fact that diesel vehicle sales have been declining, automakers think that diesel makes sense for larger SUVs. Diesel SUVs are more powerful and fuel efficient than their petrol counterparts. This article discusses the top 5 new SUVs that will be available with diesel engine choices in the near future.
MAHINDRA XUV700
Mahindra will debut the new XUV700 7-seater SUV, which will replace the XUV500, which is on its way out. The new vehicle will be built on a new monocoque chassis with a 4WD technology built in. The Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, and MG Hector Plus will all compete against the new Mahindra XUV700.
The new 2.2-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine in the new XUV700 7-seater SUV is expected to deliver about 185bhp of power and close to 400Nm of torque. The 2.0-litre turbocharged engine in the petrol variant is expected to provide approximately 200bhp of power. A 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission will be available.

NEW MAHINDRA SCORPIO
The next-generation Scorpio 7-seater SUV will be released in the first quarter of 2022, according to Mahindra. The new model will be built on the same ladder-on-frame chassis that the new Thar is built on. The new Mahindra Scorpio will be larger and more spacious inside the cabin.
The new Mahindra Scorpio will be available with two engine options: a 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine with a power output of around 150bhp, and a 2.2L turbo-diesel engine with a power output of around 158bhp. A 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission will be available. AWD or 4WD will be available for the SUV.

NEXT-GEN MARUTI VITARA BREZZA
Maruti Suzuki is working on the next-generation Vitara Brezza, which will be released in the next 6-9 months. According to rumours, the new Brezza may also be offered with a diesel engine. MARUTI-TOYOTA MID-SIZED SUV
Maruti Suzuki and Toyota are collaborating on a new mid-sized SUV to compete with the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. According to reports, the new SUV would be built on Toyota’s DNGA (Daihatsu New Generation Architecture) low-cost platform, which presently supports the Daihatsu Rocky and Toyota Raize. Both petrol and diesel engines are likely to be available for the new SUV. It’ll almost certainly get a 1.5L diesel engine with more power and torque.

Force Motors will unveil the next-generation Gurkha SUV, which has already been spotted testing in India. The new Force Gurkha is built on a ladder-on-frame platform. The SUV has a brand-new, stronger bodyshell that will fulfil current crash test requirements as well as forthcoming pedestrian safety regulations.
It will be driven by a BS6-compliant diesel engine that produces 90bhp and 280Nm of torque. The new engine is more powerful than the BS4 version. The SUV will be equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission and 4WD (four-wheel drive) with manual locking differentials controlled by levers.
