Last month, Audi India launched the e-tron electric SUV. The e-tron 50, e-tron 55, and e-tron Sportback are the three models available, with prices starting at Rs 99.99 lakh, Rs 1.16 lakh, and Rs 1.17 lakh, respectively. All of the prices shown are ex-showroom. Balbir Dhillion, Head of Audi India, confirmed to carandbike that the first batch of the electric SUV had virtually sold out in India. The number of units assigned in the initial batch, however, has not been disclosed by the automaker.
Now, the premium German automaker wants to launch additional electric vehicles, with the goal of having them account for 15% of all sales in India by 2025. If demand for electric vehicles reaches a certain level, the firm may explore local assembly in India. Local production of electric vehicles will undoubtedly assist the automaker in lowering pricing and eliminating import taxes. Currently, the Audi e-tron is only available in India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU).
When it comes to Audi India’s first electric SUV, the e-tron is jam-packed with high-tech features and economical powertrain. With a 71kWh battery pack, the e-tron 50 includes electric motors on both axles. The engine’s combined power and torque outputs are 313bhp and 540Nm. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in 6.8 seconds and has a range of 264-379 kilometres (WLTP combined).
The Audi e-tron 55 and e-tron Sportback 55 Quattro models have a dual-motor setup that produces 408 horsepower and 664 Nm of torque. On a full charge, they can travel 359-484 kilometres thanks to the bigger 95kWh battery pack. Both versions can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in 5.7 seconds. An 11kW AC charger can charge the higher capacity battery pack to 80% in 8.5 seconds, while a DC fast charger can charge it to 80% in 30 minutes.
