In June 2020, the fourth-generation Kia Carnival MPV was launched with a slew of updates. Kia India Executive Director and Chief Sales and Business Strategy Officer Tae-Jin Park recently said that the company will introduce the new-generation Carnival in India when the time is right. Although he didn’t say when it will be out, it’s expected to be sometime next year.
The 2022 Kia Carnival is longer, bigger, bigger, and more spacious than the latest India-spec model. The first is 5115mm long, 1985mm wide, and 1755mm tall, while the second is 5155mm long, 1995mm wide, and 1775mm tall. The latest model has a 3090mm wheelbase, which is 30mm longer than the current Indian model.
The upcoming Kia Carnival 2022 is available with three engine choices worldwide: a 3.5L V6 MPi petrol engine, a new 2.2L Smartstream engine, and a 3.5L GDi V6 Smartstream engine (top-end variants only). The 3.5L petrol engine produces 268bhp and 332Nm of torque, while the 2.2L and 3.5L Smartstream engines produce 290bhp and 355Nm of torque and 199bhp and 440Nm of torque, respectively. The new-generation Carnival in India is expected to use the same 2.2L diesel engine that produces 200bhp and 440Nm. The transmission, which is an 8-speed automatic, will also remain unchanged.
The 2022 Kia Carnival has more sharp creases and a squared-off stance than the previous generation, which had rounded and soft lines. The MPV has Kia’s trademark ‘Tiger Nose’ grille with a diamond pattern embellished with chrome, small housing for high and low beam headlamp clusters, LED DELs, chrome finished lower air intake, wrap around turn indicators, and a faux skid plate up front. To make the bonnet longer, the front overhang has been shortened and the A-pillar has been pulled back. 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels are standard on the Limousine model.
Newly designed LED taillamps connected by a long LED light bar, a faux skid plate, and a chrome strip merging into the base of the chrome fin on the C-pillar are only a few of the style highlights. The 2022 Kia Carnival features a new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch instrument panel, live telematics updates through in-car touchscreen and smartphone, new ‘Rear Passenger View & Talk’ feature, and one-button smart open-and-close for the rear power-sliding doors and tailgate.
