When we think of high-end luxury cars, the first name that immediately crosses our minds is that of the German automotive marque, Mercedez-Benz. Boasting of 94 long years of prowess in the field of making vehicles, this brand is renowned for its trucks, buses, ambulances along its famous luxury cars. On 17th June 2020, Mercedes launched its much-awaited 2020 GLS SUV at a whopping ₹ 99.90 lakh. Its diesel and petrol variants have been priced the same and this is the brand’s second major car launch this year since its introduction of AMG C 63 Coupe and AMG GT R in May-end. To be assembled at the company’s facility in Pune, this ‘S-class of SUV’ model is a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) product and the company’s GLS sales in India have been of over 6700 units to date. Through this new edition of GLS, the company is looking forward to continuing its promise of providing ‘space’ and ‘comfort’ to its customers.

Mercedes-Benz GLS SUV 2020:

A seven-seater luxury car with ample space and minimalistic design, the Mercedes-Benz GLS SUV 2020 is now bigger and better in both its size and features. It now has a new front grille which is more striking and is surrounded by multibeam LED headlamps which are made up of 112 LEDs (per lamp). The front part of it is much narrower and at the rear, you will find two-part LED lamps that have a unique 3D look.

In terms of its dimensions, the new Mercedes-Benz GLS SUV 2020 is much bigger than the outgoing Mercedes-Benz GLS. This model does not only have an extra 77mm in length but its breadth has also increased by an added 22mm. It also has a larger wheelbase of 60mm than its predecessor and its front bumper has undergone changes as well. This new model can also fit in up to 23-inch alloys.

While the entire look of the car has undergone massive changes to give it a sophisticated look, the interiors have had a complete metamorphosis of its own. The seats can be controlled electrically and they exude comfort, the dashboard is a lot less complicated and there are two 12.3-inch high definition displays, out of which one comprises the instrument panel and the other is the infotainment system touchscreen. The steering wheel has become multifunctional and there is an increase in the wheelbase, as a result of which there is now a cabin that is functional and with enough space for grown adults in the third row as well.

The seats can be dropped at the push of a button, presenting a flat loading area of 2400 liters and the second row comes with the feature of being moved by 10 cm. Along with all these exclusive features, it also has the all-new MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) which comes with the latest feature of being able to adjust the seat according to the height of the person driving.

Another most-talked about feature of this latest Mercedes-Benz GLS SUV 2020 is its surround cameras which makes it easier to view areas one cannot locate in front of the car, thereby giving it a ‘looking through the bonnet’ feel. Across the expanse of the car, there are 11 USB ports and 2 wireless charging options, which is why the brand calls GLS the ‘Powerbank on Wheels’.

This luxury vehicle comes with BS6 compliant diesel and petrol options in the engine. Some of Its safety measures include park assist, active brake assist, 9 airbags, and downhill speed regulation (DSR).
