Tata Nexon AMT launched at Rs 7.50 lakh

Tata has launched the mid-spec, AMT-equipped Nexon XMA at Rs 7.50 lakh and Rs 8.53 lakh — depending on whether you want the gasoline engine or the diesel motor under the hood.

The six-speed automated manual transmission and the 110hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre turbo-diesel powertrains stay unchanged. Much like all the top-spec trim, the AMT gearbox features a manual mode plus a crawl function.

The Tata introduced the Nexon AMT at May (only available in the top-spec XZA+ trimming ), priced from Rs 9.41 lakh for the gas and Rs 10.39 lakh for its diesel.

Unlike its manual counterpart, the XMA version also has 60:40-split folding chairs, though it misses out on some kit; such as follows

  • Projector headlamps
  • Daytime running lights,
  • 16-inch metal wheels,
  • An automatic climate control system,
  • The Harman-sourced touchscreen infotainment system using Android Auto compatibility along with the rear wash,
  • Wiper and defogger, Each of which are on the top-spec XZA+ variant.

Tata now offers an optional fresh white comparison complete for the roof. Concerning equipment, the remainder of the kit is the same as the manual XM trim and includes dual frontal airbags, ABS with EBD, wheel covers for the steel wheels, an infotainment system by Harman using USB, Aux and Bluetooth connectivity, four speakers, steering-mounted audio controls, rear parking sensors, follow-me-home headlamps, all four power windows, central locking and power-adjustable out rear-view mirrors.

Few reported that Tata would deliver out lower-spec versions of its automatic compact SUV in a bid to better compete with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza AMT, that includes multiple automatic trims.

At this price point, the more affordable AMT-equipped Nexon XMA is priced very close to its direct rival, the Vitara Brezza VDi AMT, that costs Rs 8.54 lakh.
