Tata Nexon is India’s second most popular subcompact SUV

Tata Motors sold 10,287 Nexon sub-4-meter SUVs in July 2021, compared to 4,327 units in the same month the previous year. It increased by 137.74 percent year over year. It’s the first time the small SUV has sold 10,000 units in a month. What’s more noteworthy is that the Tata Nexon outsold both the Hyundai Venue and the Kia Sonet to become the country’s second best-selling subcompact SUV. The Maruti Vitara Brezza took the top place with total sales of 12,676 units, compared to 7,807 units in July 2020.

With sales of 22,836 units, 18,434 units, 14,729 units, and 13,434 units, Maruti Suzuki’s WagonR, Swift, Baleno, and Ertiga ranked first, second, third, and fourth in India’s top ten selling vehicles. The Hyundai Creta, which was formerly India’s best-selling passenger car, is still the best-selling SUV. The Creta was sold in 13,000 units by the South Korean automaker, compared to 11,549 units in the same month previous year.

The Maruti Suzuki Alto hatchback (12,867 units), Vitara Brezza small SUV (12,676 units), and Dzire subcompact car (10,470 units) are ranked sixth, seventh, and eighth, respectively. While the Nexon was ranked ninth, the Maruti Eeco sold 10,057 units, representing a 40.69 percent year-over-year increase.

The Tata Nexon Dark Edition for 2021 was just unveiled, with a starting price of Rs 10.40 lakh (ex-showroom). The model has new Charcoal Black R16 alloy wheels, a Sonic Silver body accent, and matte Granite Black cladding. Inside the cabin, the athletic concept continues with details like a black interior theme and quality leatherette upholstery with tri-arrow perforations on the seats and door trims.

The Nexon is presently available with 1.2L petrol and 1.5L diesel engines that produce 86bhp and 113Nm respectively, and 90bhp and 200Nm respectively. Both manual and automatic transmissions are available.
