Maruti Suzuki has been preparing to launch the much-anticipated Jimny SUV in India for some time. Previously, India’s biggest automaker began selling the model’s three-door version to markets outside of India. Furthermore, spy photos of the five-door Jimny have recently taken the industry by storm, indicating the car’s seriousness in the Indian market.
Ahead of the car’s launch in India, some key technical specs of the India-spec five-door model have leaked online. The below is what the records reveal:
• Dimensions and weight of the five-door Jimny:
The SUV can measure 3,850 mm in length, 1,645 mm in width, and 1,730 mm in height. The vehicle would have a 2,550 mm wheelbase. It would weigh 1,190 kilograms and have a ground clearance of 210 millimeters. It will be equipped with 15-inch wheels and 195/80 tires.
• Engine and transmission for the five-door Jimny:
According to the leaked paper, the off-roader will be powered by a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder K15B petrol engine that produces 101bhp at 6,000 rpm and 130 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The SUV would be equipped with either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission. The paper also states that the Jimny’s fuel economy would be 13.6 km/litre. It’s also worth mentioning that the AWD or 4×4 options aren’t included on the list.
