Xiaomi is known for producing affordable smartphones, but it appears that the firm is looking to expand into new markets. According to reports, the organisation is considering building its own vehicle as a business decision.
According to an iFengNews article citing sources familiar with the situation, the firm is preparing to launch its own vehicle, but the exact shape and direction of the new venture are still being worked out.
In terms of project management, Xiaomi’s new CEO, Lei Jun, will be in charge directly. Jun travelled to the United States twice in 2013 to meet with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, and it appears that the company’s presence in the region has increased since then.
According to the survey, one of the key factors for Xiaomi branching out into other markets is the smartphone market’s saturation. This isn’t surprising, given that the Chinese smartphone manufacturer will allegedly soon be producing automobiles as well.
Xiaomi is yet to comment on the reports and has not sent any clarification, so this detail should be treated with caution.
